Welcome to our wonderful Living Room. This month, we are exploring the power of intention through a simple, but powerful candlelight ritual.
For centuries, people have lit a flame to mark the beginning of something meaningful. A celebration, a gathering, a prayer, a promise, a moment of remembrance. One small flame has long been a way of saying, 'This moment matters’…
Before you begin, find a quiet space, a candle, any candle you have at home is perfect.
When you are ready, join me for this gentle ritual of reflection, intention and presence, and it only takes ten minutes.

Now as your candle continues to gently burn, let it quietly hold your intention for you. You don't need to keep thinking about it or striving for it. Just let the flame be a gentle reminder that every meaningful journey begins with a single moment of choosing.
Place your candle where you will see it everyday as a reminder of your intention that you set today...
Once you have listened to the audio, return here for a mini story...
The Candle and the Light Within
There is an old story of a student who once asked a wise teacher, ‘How do I find peace? How do I stop searching and finally feel at home within myself?’
The teacher did not answer straight away. Instead, he placed a candle in front of the student and gently lit it.
For a while, they sat together in silence, the student a little confused.. but watched as the small candle flame danced with an open curiosity.
Then the teacher asked, ‘What is the candle doing?’
The student looked carefully. ‘It’s simply giving us light.’
The teacher asked, ‘Does it fight against the darkness?’
The student shook his head and said ‘No.’
‘Does it compare itself to the stars and wish it could shine brighter?’ said the teacher.
The student smiled and said ‘No.’
The teacher knowlingly nodded and continued to say...
‘Perhaps there is something for us to learn from this small flickering flame. The candle does not struggle to become any thing else. It does not need to prove its worth. It simply offers its light. So much of our lives are spent trying to become more, achieve more, fix more. We forget that beneath all of this, there is already something whole and complete within us. Our purpose is to remember what has always been there.'
The student looked at the candle again, but this time he saw it differently. He realised the candle was reminding him to notice the light, his light that shines within him.
And perhaps that is why, throughout time, people have lit candles at moments that matter. Because it reminds them to return back home to our their own inner shining light.
