From an incredibly young age I have always had a spiritual aspiration to serve humanity through natural healing, I was always mummifying one of my parents in a tangle of bandages and pretending to apply ointments to miraculously heal an imaginary illness or injury. I probably didn’t realise then, but I was accessing an inner knowledge that we all have to heal ourselves through the power of touch.
Over the years I have combined the power of touch into my yoga practice, I discovered that the asanas open the body’s energetic channels, for the Pranic healing life force (the Chi) to journey through. This fused with mindful touch can instigate the body’s natural healing responses and help maintain optimum health.

When we are full of anxiety, distress, and confusion, the Hegu (Large Intestine 4) point can clear out the system and revitalise the Chi, with fresh energy and bring our thoughts back to the understanding of the heart. It is also wonderful for headaches, migraine, improves immunity, alleviates acute sinus pain and any pain within the body.
So why not try it for yourself, find a quiet spot and sit comfortably either on a chair, or crossed legged, ensure that your spine is straight, the head is over the heart, the heart is over the hips, sitting like this improves your posture and spinal health. Gently smile, relax the shoulders, soften the jawline, and gently draw the navel into the base of the spine. Place your right thumb into the webbing between the thumb and index finger (LI 4) on your left hand. Direct pressure underneath the bone that attaches to your index finger for a minute. Steady the breath and begin to take deep, nourishing breaths, lengthening the exhale if possible. Then switch hands and work on your right hand.
