This wonderful Touch Yoga technique, is so simple, yet incredibly effective at restoring balance and unlocking energy. There have been many times when I’ve felt sluggish, bloated, or just out of sync with myself, and this movement has always uplifted me.
The Vitality Belt movement activates the Dai Mai Belt, the body’s only horizontal energetic pathway (meridian), which encircles the waist like a belt. It acts as a bridge between the upper and lower body, preventing energy from stagnating and plays a vital role in balance and vitality. Engaging this meridian through the Vitality Belt technique helps release deep-seated tension, enhance core stability, and support natural detoxification. When flowing freely, it leaves you feeling more aligned, energised, and light on your feet.
How to Practice the Vitality Belt:
Stand or sit comfortably, with your feet hip-width apart, have a nice aligned spine and keep your knees soft, if standing.
Take a couple of deep nourishing, breaths, to be present and centred.
Rub your hands together to create, connection and warmth, place one palm on your belly and the back of the opposite hand on your lower back.
Begin to gently sweep both hands from back to front, allowing your torso to follow in a soft twisting motion. Let your breath be natural and relaxed.
Repeat this movement for up to a minute, allowing yourself to move intuitively, tuning into how your body feels with each sweep.
When I practice this beautiful move, I can almost feel my body sighing from the inside out. It’s a quick yet powerful way to reset my energy, ease tension, and reconnect with myself.
Whether you add it to your morning routine, use it as a midday pick-me-up, or a gentle wind down in the evening, you will feel a shift in your energy.
